In Habakkuk 2:4 we have this powerful scripture that reads thus, ‘But the just shall live by his faith’. It’s simple and straightforward but its message powerful: the faith walk is a personal walk with God. The level of our faith determines the quality of our relationship with God. It’s the reason why we may carry the same bible and hear the same word but still produces different results. It’s the reason why Hebrews 11 only had few bible characters mentioned amidst thousands of characters in the scriptures. Our spiritual productivity is relative to our walk with God. It was said of Enoch that ‘he walked with the lord and was not’. His walk with God was on another level and so was his result – he didn’t see death, even though it was appointed unto man to die once, yet Enoch defied that law, he didn’t die!

The Faith walk is a personal walk.  How you walk with God determines where you are placed in his kingdom. Make no mistake about this, this is a kingdom of levels so we are not all on the same pedestal, ratings, experience and reward with God! Matthew 11:11 tells us:

Verily I say unto you, among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Paul used the same word in 1 Corinthians 15:9-10, ‘For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.   But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

Paul started out the least among the apostle but did not end there, he went on to become the greatest apostles, writing about two third of the new testament. It is practically difficult to preach a complete gospel without quoting Paul. What changed Pauls level was grace. Grace which comes via spiritual knowledge. In Galatians 2:2 Paul said I went up by revelation and communicated the gospel to you. He had a revelation that others did not have! He had a revelation that even Peter acknowledged no wonder Paul oftentimes talked about ‘my gospel’ (Ephesians 3:1-10) pointing to his unique understanding of the word that makes him outstanding in the world.

Ultimately our revelation in the word is what determines our standing in the world.

Everyone mentioned in the books of Hebrews 11 secured their place in that great assemblage of great men and women all because of their faith and their faith came due to their revelation of the word. For faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word Of God (Romans 10:17)

What you hear determines what you do, it determines how you behave. Abraham heard in Genesis 12 to go out and he did and because of that obedience became the father of faith!

What you hear from God is what distinguishes you from your peers. And if what you hear from God is from God then it will produce results! This is because this word of faith is profitable! (Hebrews 4:2, Hebrews 11:2, 33-40). By faith, through faith, our great fathers achieve great feats! Their revelations and convictions in the word produced tangible results that generations after are reading.

Every generation has father figures. Our present-day fathers in the faith has walked by certain revelations that have produced results for them. Results that we all can see today and are probably struggling to match. Whatever position they have in the kingdom today has been given to them by their personal revelations and walk with God.

Our fathers of the faith had a revelation of the prosperity gospel that gave birth to the giving pattern that we see in the church today. Like Abraham did they had a revelation of giving the tithes, of giving to the church of Jesus, to men higher than them in the faith, of giving to the poor and the less privilege. They pursue these multi-faceted giving as contain in the terms of the covenant and the results are there to show today. From men driving rickety cars to men flying in jets (whatever your grouse is with that). From men who are ordinary university lecturer, ordinary doctors, teachers, to men who influences nation! And not only are they great but equally the gospel they preach, the gospel of tithing and giving, of which many are debating today has been responsible for liberating the church from the pangs of poverty, setting up millions in affluence and wealth. Or why do you think despite all your shouts and criticisms of the jet flying pastors their congregations still adore them and follow them? Oh, you think they are brain washed? Far from it, it’s not because they are brain washed it’s because their lives have been transformed!

Many of those so-called brain washed members were like the men who followed David in the bible, downtrodden helpless band, but were transformed by this gospel that such members can give enough offerings to buy jets! Yes, that’s why it is you that is complaining and not them! This gospel you criticize works for them!

It’s a personal walk with the lord, based on revelation. Many of us will be tithers till Jesus come. We will forever give to his church which is his bodily representation on the earth, and equally give to the men he has ordained as ministers, as we also give to the poor and take care of our parents. We will give in all ramifications as we have been taught as part of the terms of the covenant. Why would we do these despite all that has been criticized? It’s because this gospel has been revealed to us, but much more it is working for us! It’s what John said in 1 John 1:1-2 that we cannot but preach the things we have heard seen and handled of the word of life!

For If faith is really faith then it must obtain good results! (Hebrews 4:2, Hebrews 11:2). This so far is obtaining good results.

This is our own faith, for the just shall live by his own faith and not by ‘our faith’! If this generation believes in not tithing and in not giving to the church, let it go ahead and practice its ‘revelation’ and by the fruits and results of their revelation we shall see if they ‘have follow on to know the lord’.

For the ultimate test of every revelation is in the results that it produces!

Until then we will walk in the light of the lord which he has shown our fathers and which has been revealed to us, for everyone’s walk in this kingdom is by personal revelation and experience of what they believe in. And it is this understanding, revelation and faith that determines everyone standing in the kingdom! SELAH.
