There is nothing good enough that cannot be improved upon! The Bible says in Proverbs 4:18 that the "path of the just is as a shining light that shineth brighter unto the perfect day". In other words, until the perfect day comes the path of the just is expected to shine better and brighter. And we know when the perfect day is, it is the day the perfect one comes and really of that time no one has an idea of.
I knew recently men talked of the signs of September 23 and all the astronomical signs that foretells the beginning of the end of the world, but I tell you pure scriptural truth, the rapture may either be today or some 1000 years from now! Soon I will write a few series on that. But here is the truth for today, until Jesus comes we must commits our lives to daily improvement in our walk with Him and in every area of our lives.
Paul said it in Philippians 3:12-15 that reaching unto new heights was his daily pursuits.
‘Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore, let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you’
He keeps pressing and reaching for new heights and zeniths - this is what improvement is all about. It is about pushing the standard of the measure of performance always. It's about new heights of results in our spiritual walk, family life, career endeavours, relationship, finances, name it!
And as we see from Paul in Philippians 3:12-15. It is first a mindset. Paul said in verse 13 and 15"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded
In other words, Paul said "I am never complacent. I am always improving, let everyone of you reading this have this same mindset"!
When our mind is set towards improvement there is no room for complacency in our thinking. Complacent mind thinks and glory on yesterday's results and achievements while an excellent mind thinks of how to improve on them. Complacency is what breeds ‘decandency’! When we are complacent we become decadent - Ichabod, the glory has pass! This will not be your lot, in Jesus mighty name. Amen
