PRINCIPLES FROM PRAYER LIFE OF JESUS - PRINCIPLES OF CONCENTRATION

Luke 6:12 says, “In those days Jesus went out on the mountainside to pray and He spent the night praying to God.”

Notice it says, “He spent the night.” It seems the master was having regular all night long prayer meetings by himself!

Some of the greatest lessons of my prayer life have been nights that I have spent in prayer. Sometimes when I pray it takes just a few minutes for me to get my thoughts collected. Sometimes it takes a long time for me to even get in the mood. I’ve found that it’s important to spend extended blocks of time with God so that you can concentrate on what He wants you to do and His will for your life.

It is this principle of concentration that calls for extended days of fasting and prayers, be it 3days, 7days, 21days, 40days or 100days. Jesus in Luke 4:1-3 had extended days, concentrated days of fasting and prayer and in vs 14,18 it was proclaimed that Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit and declare' the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because he hath ANOINTED me...'

Concentration leads to the release of Unction. Concentration leads to intoxication in the Spirit. And I tell you when the anointing is at work things begin to work! No wonder Jesus declared ‘this day is this scripture fulfilled in your life' (Luke 4:21)

How things will work for present-day believers and the church if we don't trivialize the power of God! Prayer has its impact. Prayer has its import! Jesus spent extended days in it before his ministry began. There are men who run ministry today who spends less time with God, but more time with men! No wonder they have no impact on men!

In Luke 5:17 we often read of how Jesus was 'teaching in the temple and the power of the Lord was present to heal them'. But before that verse in Luke 5:16 we read, 'He withdrew himself into the wilderness and prayed'. He spent concentrated time in prayer with God before dealing with men! His time with God made his walk and work among men easier!

In our business, family, career, and ministry, the concentrated amount of time we spent with God in prayers will determine the level of our impacts among men!

Men who spent time in his presence are transformed by his presence!

Concentration leads to transformation! In Luke 9:28-29 the Bible says of Jesus:

"And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James and went up into a mountain to pray. And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered (transforms), and his raiment was white and glistening".  As he prayed, he was transformed!

God's presence transforms our lives, business, career, family, and God’s presence impacts on all that we do. In Acts 4:13 the Bible says they took notice of them, that 'they had been with Jesus'! This is what happens when we spend concentrated time with God in prayers, we become more like him and soon enough people can notice that we carry tangibly the presence and aura of Jesus!

There is so much pressure in the world we live in that wants to take us away from his presence, still, we must be able to do the 'least' that Jesus asked of his disciples, "Could ye not watch with me one hour"(Mark 14:40). That should be the least for the least in the kingdom when we pray!

Find time from your busy schedules to spend a concentrated amount of time with God in prayer and see how your life is transformed and a new level of unction explodes over your life. Amen!
