Through our good works, the world can identify with our good God. It is with both our words and our works that we prove our worth to the world. This is how we show the fullness of the gospel to the world.

Jesus said in John 10:37, "If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him"

In other words, we gain credibility through our good works! If people must believe there is a good God it will be through our good works. It won't just be through what we say it will be through what we do! We must become the lights in our world, bringing lights where there is darkness, giving hope where there is hopelessness, and giving alms where there is lack! This is our lives calling: 'to do good to all men, especially to those of the household of faith"(Galatians 6:10)

There are three crucial things the word said about doing good works. First and foremost, doing good works is the purpose of our creation. Ephesians 2:10 says we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works.

‘For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.’

The word unto here means 'for the purpose of'. This is the common denominator to all of our differing life endeavours and assignment, it is to produce good works.

Secondly, we must be passionate about doing good works. It must not be a routine procedure; it must be a passionate pursuit. Titus 2:14 tells us we have been redeemed to be a peculiar people so that we can be zealous of good works.

'Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.'

So when you give you give passionately, when you help you help passionately! Whatever you do let's its zeal consumes you!

Thirdly there must be a pattern of consistency to our good works. We must not do good only when we feel good. Doing good works must become a recognizable pattern for our lives. This is what Titus 2:7 advises.

'In all things showing thyself a pattern of good works:  in doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,'

And Titus 3:8 tells us that as we maintain good works we will become profitable.

'This is a faithful saying and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works.   These things are good and profitable unto men.'

The profitability is both for the kingdom - they will praise our father - and to us, as God spiritually prune us so that we can become more profitable in good works. It was through doing good works that some entertain angels in the bible. As you go about doing good works you will enjoy supernatural visitation. You will enjoy angelic help and assistance. Make it a lifestyle to 'do good to all men, especially those of the household of faith'(Galatians 6:10)
