"And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, who say the people that I am?" - Luke 9:18
Notice that the disciples were with him but He still found time for personal prayer. This is an important principle because there’s not always time to get alone by yourself.
There are times when you can’t be isolated. I think of this as kind of an incubator verse. Babies can be in the middle of a busy hospital, but they can be incubated in a situation that protects them from the hustle and bustle around them. Sometimes I find as a pastor I just can’t get alone, but I can have an attitude of insulation and I can be silent even in the middle of a traffic jam. My prayer can overcome the interruptions when I put myself in an attitude of insulation.
Insulation helps you overcome distraction and ensure spiritual connection! Because there is no manifestation of Gods power without a spiritual connection! This is why praying in the Holy Spirit/in tongues is like a spiritual insulation from mental distractions! Our greatest distraction during times of prayers comes not from the things around us but also from the thoughts within us!
Paul recognized this and said praying in tongues makes the mind unfruitful but the spirit productive!(1 Corinthians 14:14)
‘For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.’
And when this takes place a direct connection is established with God bringing answers on the earth! (1 Corinthians 14:2).
"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries."1 Corinthians 14:2 KJV
The principle of isolation may protect you from physical distractions but much more the principle of insulation will protect you from both physical and mental distractions!
So anywhere you are, in the mall, at the park, bank, workplace, kitchen, you can build up yourself on your most holy faith by praying in the Holy Ghost! Insulate your mind to enhance your connection with the heavenlies! Speak mysteries in tongues as you riddle your life from every misery from the pit of hell!
Jesus was alone and his disciples were with him, but still, he prayed! This is the key to the prayerlessness in the lives of many modern believers: finding that time to be alone in the middle of the worldly distractions. It is finding that time when you are 'alone' in the midst of traffic or in the midst of a crowd or a rowdy meeting! If you are conscious of this principle you can always shut out the world and connect still with the father!
Praying in the Holy Spirit is a 'spiritual insulator'. The Spirit helps us to pray with accuracy and precision but much more it cuts off distraction! Praying in the Spirit should be our daily practice as we navigate a busy and distracted world!
Paul says 'pray without ceasing'. The principle of spiritual insulation is key for us if we are to achieve that injunction. Our ability to pray at all times and everywhere is determined by how we are able to shut out the world and connects with God. From here onward you will always be in connection with the heavens!
