SEAL BY THE HOLY SPIRIT - HOW THE HOLY SPIRIT PROTECTS

The Holy Spirit has an all-encompassing ministry to the saints and one of them is protecting the saints. The bible says of the Spirit of God in Ephesians 4:30 that by his power we have been ‘sealed unto the day of redemption’. The word seal from the original Greek translation meant a mark of SECURITY, PRESERVATION OR AUTHENTICATION. Primarily we see what the Holy Spirit is meant to do in our lives, first as a mark of authentication, to show that we belong to God and then as a mark of preservation and security that for the fact that we belong to God also mean that we are preserved and protected from all harm! So even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we fear no evil, for He is always with us! Essentially we are God’s property and God’s has proprietary and protective duties over his property! So now evil can befall you. You have the seal of the Holy Spirit!

This seal or mark upon us is what makes the promises of God in Psalm 91 possible.

‘A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.’(Psalm 91:7)

This is the protective privilege of the Holy Spirit that we enjoyed as believers, so we can walk in the midst of the plagues of life and still be assured that we will be unharmed. This is why Paul declared in Galatians 6:17 that no man should trouble him for he bears the marks of the Lord Jesus!

Much earlier in Psalm 105:15 the Psalmist declared, starting from verse 13, ‘When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;  14 He suffered no man to do them wrong:  yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;  15 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

You are anointed you cannot be molested!

As you walk through the remaining days of this year and of all your journeys on the earth, no evil or power from the pit of hell is allowed to molest you because you are anointed!

The anointing is our divine immunity from satanic hostility.

We see this played out in Jesus life after he came to the temple, and unlike before his previous visits, this time he didn’t just read the word, he preached the word and told them: AM ANOINTED! That got the devils angry and they conspire to push him off the cliff.

‘And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, 29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.   30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way(Luke 4:28-30)

On getting to the cliff though, they could do nothing, the anointed Jesus walked in their midst and went his way. He was ‘unmolestable’ and untouchable by reason of the anointing! We are not just anointed to speak in tongues but to walk through the midst of the earth unhurt by the devil and his cohorts!

This is why our heart cry and longing every day must be to see his power and glory, to experience a daily outpouring of the fresh oil from God(Psalm 63:1-2, Psalm 92:10-11)

Paul was another example of how the anointing protects. In ACTS 28 while they were in a place called Melita, a snake fastened itself on Pauls' hand and the people around all had an opinion of how Paul must be a murderer and how vengeance has come to take its course, but Paul shook off the snake and the bible says he was unharmed!

‘And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.   4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.   5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm’

The Holy Spirit protects from all harm. Even when the enemy comes in, like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord lifts up a standard against him (Isaiah 59:19). Paul shook off the snake and he came to no harm. By the anointing, nothing molests your destiny again! The remaining days of this year no harm comes your way. Amen.

You are reading this and you are not yet born again? This is the time to walk into that covenant standing with God through his son Jesus. Say this prayer with me:  “Father I acknowledge that I am a sinner, that Jesus died for me, that you raised him from the dead. Father, please forgive me. I accept Jesus today as my Lord and my Saviour. Amen.”
