We will be guarded as long as we remain guided by the Spirit of the Lord! For this is the principal way the Holy Spirit protects us, He guides our feet into the path of peace. David said that the steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord.

‘The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD:  and he delighteth in his way. 24 Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down:  for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.(Psalm 37:23)

And even though there may be challenges on these guided paths, but one thing we are sure off is that God will hold us up, we will not come to harm. This was what happened to Paul in Acts 27. It was already determined by the Spirit that he would appear before Agrippa to testify of Jesus, he did this in Acts 26. And from here he was on his way to see Caesar before a tempestuous storm arose that threatened their lives. However, Paul stood up and said by the Spirit of God.

But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.   22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer:  for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.   23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, 24 Saying, Fear not, Paul;  thou must be brought before Caesar:  and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.(Acts 27:21-24)

And as Paul said no one’s life was lost in the storm, all were divinely guarded because first, this was a guided journey – a journey ordered by God himself. This validates the word that the steps of the righteous are not only guided by God they are also guarded by Him!

A brother was to travel to another location by a particular bus which all looks good from all indication, but as he was to step into the car he heard God’s unmistakable voice not to enter. So he obeyed the voice and waited for the next one. The bus he wanted to enter left.  Now it took some time for the new bus to take off but after it took off, on their way he saw the earlier bus he was to enter, in a ghastly accident! Without divine warning, he would have been a casualty.

Heeding divine warning is crucial to our divine safety! Look at the life of Jesus; he was protected from birth through a series of divine warnings to the shepherd and His parents.

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him:  and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.   12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.   13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word:  for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.   14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:  15 and was there until the death of Herod:  that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.(Matthew 2:12-15)

Heeding divine prompting is necessary to enjoying divine protection. We are only protected as we are prompted. The Holy Spirit is our divine prompter leading us on the right path. Romans 8:14 says, ‘For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.’ The path we walk through in life is not as important as the person walking with us through that part.  ‘Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:  for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

The best path to walk in life is where the Holy Spirit is walking with you! If he walks with you nothing can work against you! For if God be for us who can be against us? No one!(Romans 8:31). The remaining days of this year and beyond the Holy Spirit will always walk with you. Amen.

The guidance of the Holy Spirit is only for Sons of God according to Romans 8:14, so if you have not accepted Jesus into your life please say this prayer with me: ‘“Father, I acknowledge that I am a sinner, that Jesus died for me, that you raised him from the dead. Father, please forgive me. I accept Jesus today as my Lord and my Saviour. Amen.”
