Barrow, Alaska is located 330 miles north of the Arctic Circle. The sun goes down in Barrow on November 18th and it doesn't come back up again until January 23rd. You can imagine how glad they will be to see light again. Without light, there is no life! It's the reason God could not create anything until He first created light on the earth (Genesis 1:1-3).
‘In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the water’. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light
And when his son came he declared "I am the light of the world, he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life"(John 8:12). The light of life is made available to us when we follow the light - JESUS!
What does the light of Jesus bring to the world?
SALVATION - The light of God represents his salvation. Psalm 27:1 tells us, ‘The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? And then when Jesus began to preach in Matthew 4, it was said of him in verse 16 that light is come up for the salvation of many. Salvation from sin and Satan can only be experienced in Jesus!
‘Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; 13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: 14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
REVELATION - Psalm 119:105,130, says ‘Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path…..The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple’
The light of the word brings revelation to our world. Jesus is the word! He is the light. The entrance of his word into our hearts shatters every darkness! The light we receive from the word makes us rule our world. In fact, there is enough light in the word to overcome the darkness in the world! And going through the word I discovered that light was mentioned 235 times compared to darkness, 142 times.
DIRECTION - this light also gives direction according to Luke 1:79.
‘To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace’
This light guides our feet into the way of peace. Where there is light there is direction, where there is direction there is no confusion! No more confusion in your life! Amen!
When you embrace the light of Jesus, salvation, revelation, and direction become the daily manifestation of his light in your life. That becomes your own experience from this time onward. Amen.
