Over the past few weeks, we have seen the blessings and power in the blood of Jesus! Scriptures say in 1 Corinthians 5:7 that Christ our Passover lamb has been sacrificed for us! Remember He was the real lamb for our Passover. In Exodus, we have the shadow of that lamb, where God asked them to apply the blood to their door and as they did, the angel of death passed over them. By that spiritual application of the blood, the Israelites enjoyed: protection, deliverance, and distinction from the Egyptians! Now that was the shadow!

The real Passover lamb has been sacrificed for us, today and at any time we can practically apply his blood to life’s entire situation! Pleading the blood is one of the ways we do that.

At the battle in Revelations 12:11 when there was war in heaven, the angelic host won by using the blood as their word of testimony!!! That scripture meant that they won by testifying to the power in the blood, its efficacy!

‘10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ:  for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.   11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;  and they loved not their lives unto the death.  12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them.   Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea!   for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.’

Their faith in the blood determines their fate in the world! Confidence in the power of the blood brought victory in the conflict of life! They pleaded the blood of Jesus! I could hear in the Spirit how they testified: "Behold the Lamb of God was slain and his blood shed to defeat you the accuser of the brethren! We turn to this stronghold today and cast you out Satan..."!

Pleading the blood is leaning on the blood! Leaning on the blood guarantees victory in life! Because by this blood we can enter into the Holiest of all! By this blood, we have access with confidence to all that God has done for us by the blood (Hebrews 10:19-21).

Hebrews 10:19-22, ‘19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;  21 And having an high priest over the house of God;  22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water’

The blood is our surest access to all of the blessings of God and as we plead the blood we enter into these blessings.

Pleading the blood is more than a spiritual catchphrase or incantations! It is powerful! When we plead the blood it means to invoke what Christ has done for us on the cross over a particular situation or person. It is to invoke all the power and blessings in the blood on a particular situation or person! Therefore whatever has been accomplished by the blood we lay claim to it when we plead the blood by faith!

Pleading the blood is warring with the Blood

Pleading the blood of Jesus is a heaven-given resource that grants us a license to stand in dominion over the works of hell. We can use it in the same sense that an attorney stands before the court and makes a “plea” on legal grounds, based on a body of evidence.

When you and I come before the court of heaven—and in every circumstance we face in life—we have the legal right, through the blood of Jesus Christ, to enter a plea and to lay claim to the evidence (His slain body, His shed blood at the Cross) which is proven to neutralize the power of sin, the power of affliction, the power of death, and the power of hell. It is to that I make my plea when I plead the blood of Jesus, whether I face demonic, physical, or personal attack, condemnation or the temptation to sin.

Pleading the blood is warring with the blood (Revelation 12:11). The blood of Jesus is our weapon of warfare against the enemy!

And the spiritual implication or result of this is that when we do warfare with the blood, our warfare is accomplished. The moment the blood came on the scene their warfare against the devil was accomplished!

In Zechariah 9:6-17 we are told to turn to our stronghold which is the blood of the lamb! We are asked to plead that blood in warfare!

‘9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion;  shout, O daughter of Jerusalem:  behold, thy King cometh unto thee:  he is just, and having salvation;  lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.   10 And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off:  and he shall speak peace unto the heathen:  and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.   11 As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.

12 Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope:  even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee;  13 When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man.   14 And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning:  and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.   15 The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar.   16 And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people:  for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land.   17 For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty!   Corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.

And when we do this the following happens.

  • vs14 -"and the Lord shall be seen over them" - In Egypt, the word says "when I see the blood I will pass over you". The blood of the lamb becomes a protective presence over us. Indeed God's presence covers us up in the blood!
  • vs14 - "his arrows goes forth as lightnings" - this is what the blood becomes, a spiritual arrow to devour the enemies camp! The blood is not just a defensive spiritual weapon, but an offensive one!
  • vs 15 - The blood also becomes our defense and we will devour our enemies
  • vs 16 – Ultimately, the LORD becomes our salvation and we an ensign in the land. These and many more are what happens when we lean on and plead the blood.

What will you like to lay claim to this week? Go ahead and claim by the blood of the lamb! Amen

What will you like to war against this weer? It's time to plead the blood and take the battle to the enemy's gate! Victory is assured by the blood of the Lamb! Amen.
