A LITTLE WORD ON STORMS....

What gives us the impression that life in the kingdom will exempt us from the storms and challenges of lives? Where is that notion established in the scriptures that life in the faith will be free of battles, wars, struggles, challenges, storms, trials, and temptations? Yes, the scriptures tell us expressly in Romans 5:17 that we who have received Jesus as our Lord and savior are destined to reign on the earth. Dominion is in our redemptive package. But first, it was our creation mandate from Genesis 1:26, but was lost in the first Adam until the second Adam restored us back to our place of dominion! But has anyone ever exercise dominion where there is no contention?

1 John 5:4 tells us, "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?"
The faith that was given to us in the Lord Jesus Christ was essentially a warring faith. Faith is given for the purpose of overcoming spiritual conflict! There will be no reason for the faith if there are no reasons for spiritual battles! So Paul advised in Ephesians 6:16, 'Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.'
The fiery darts of the enemies are quenched by the fiery force of our faith!
We have been given 'the faith' because of the storms of life! Faith does not exclude you from the battles of life, faith exalts you above the battles of life!
Serving God is no spiritual immunity from the challenges of life but a guarantee for our victory!
Look at Jesus and his disciples faced with the storm!
"And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him' (Mark 4:36-41)
When the storm came Jesus asked them, 'where is your faith' for that is what the storms have come to test. When the storms of life come they are asking after and testing the strength of our faith!
We have been given 'the faith' because of the storms of life! Faith does not exclude you from the battles of life, faith exalts you above the battles of life!
Where is your faith? Are you giving up already! The size of your battle is the test of your faith, so rise up and conquer! The storms will test your faith but your faith is your guarantee for victory. So above all take the shield of faith this morning, this week and quench all the fiery darts of the enemy for your victory is assured! Jesus assure us in his word, 'These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace.   In the world ye shall have tribulation:  but be of good cheer;  I have overcome the world.'   SELAH.
