EXPERIENCING THE WORD: THE REVELATOR

The awesomeness of God is that he can read the enemy's plan even before they are made and consequently make counter plans to nullify what even the enemy is yet to conceive! Now don't question that, don't try to figure that out, it's what makes him God, it's what makes his ways unsearchable!

In John 10:10 Jesus reveals this awesomeness of God with this statement he made, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly". In other words Jesus was saying the devil has his destructive plans mapped out and well laid out for humanity but God already has a counter measure in place to give life instead of the devil's plan for destruction! Now don't be fooled that God's counter measures are reactive to the devil's plan, you will be wrong with that thought, because long before the devil's plan to destroy humanity was conceived God already gave up is son as a lamb right from the foundation of the world! This was what led to John exclaiming when he saw Jesus, 'Behold the lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world'(John 1:29).

Furthermore when you read more into the new testament you will discover another truth about this lamb that John introduced to us. In Revelations 13:8 we were told that this lamb of God was slain from the foundation(the very beginning) of the world. Revelations 13:8 reads, "And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world". Before Satan's deception at the garden of Eden God had already slain his son for the sins of the world! God's counter measures against the devil's moves are all proactive in nature - long thought and prepared even before the devil makes his first move!

The devil has a plan to blind humanity from receiving the light of the word! And from the last instalment on this series we saw that he accomplishes this by making people dull of hearing! He darkens the mind and thereby alienates men and women from the life of God(Ephesians 4:18). In 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 Paul put it more succinctly, "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them".

Where there is no understanding there is no faith and where their is no faith there is no salvation! The devil's plans has always been to alienate mankind from the life of God through his scheme of creating blind hearts, dull hears, blind eyes and deaf ears to the word of God! The success or the failure of this scheme ultimately determines how much of John 10:10b that we will see fulfill in our lives! God has a LIFE PLAN for humanity that can only be accessed through spiritual understanding and the devil in aiming to stop this creates blind hearts and dull hears, as long as people don't understand the word they remain under the control of the god of this world!

However God has a counter measure; if the devil's plan was to block the hearts and ears of men, God too send his Holy Spirit to open the hearts and the ears of men! The Holy Spirit opens our hearts to revelation and through this revelation we access the life of God!

Jesus personally introduces us to the person and the work of the Holy Spirit in the book of John and we will read through those scriptures to see again the things we might have overlooked.

•John 14:26, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you". Here the first introduction of the Holy Spirit to us by Jesus was that of a teacher! This was the first mention, other subsequent mentions after this was to shed light on the Holy Spirit principal assignment which was to teach.
•John 16:13-14, "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come". Here again Jesus speak in no unmistakable terms about how the Holy Spirit work is to guide our hearts into lights; he is to be our teacher, the revelator of hidden truths!

The dominion mandate giving to us can only become a reality when we experience the word. And we can only experience the word through an understanding of the word. This is why the Psalmist lament in Psalm 82:5-6 that as long as God's people don't understand the word the foundation of the world will continue to be out of course! This is what the devil targets, to give us dullness of hearing and creates blind hearts that are unresponsive to the truth of God's word. However through God's proactive counter measure made available in the person of the Holy Spirit, whatever the devil conceals the Spirit reveals!

Whatever is conceal the Holy Spirit can reveal!

Paul laid it bare in 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 that the things that ears has not heard, eyes have not seen are the things revealed by the Spirit! These are the mysteries of the word, they are not understood by explanation but by revelation!

This is the principal work of the Holy Spirit, to teach and bring into understanding. The whole of John 16 is dedicated to that. Therefore the more intimacy we developed with the Spirit, the more mysteries He reveals to our heart! His principal ministry is to reveal mysteries!

Ephesians 3:1-5 sheds some lights on this as Paul the Apostle talked about his ministry, "For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit"

Some analysis of Paul's thoughts here
•Vs 3 -"How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery;". We know the truth of God:s word, the truth in God's heart, not by explanation but by revelation!
•Vs 4 - "Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)". Now that this revelation has come when you read you will understand!
•Vs 5 - "as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;" This further highlights the teaching and revelation ministry of the Holy Spirit - he is the revelator of all that is in God's hearts.

In summary we cannot experience the power of the word without experiencing intimacy with the Spirit of God. This is the major reason why the Holy Spirit was given to us, to bring us into an understanding of the word that will put us in control of our world. This is why we must develop intimacy with the Spirit of God in our quest to experiencing the word and dominating our world!

May the Spirit of God begins to work in your heart bringing you to an unprecedented level of understanding of the word. Amen!
